“We built the first bioethanol factory in Romania. Construction work was recently finalized, but we have not yet started production, as we are waiting for the agricultural campaign to end,” Marin Moraru, the company’s General Manager and owner, told Business Standard.
The factory has an annual production capacity of 10 million liters.
Marex’s management is considering building a biodiesel factory for the processing of fat waste from slaughter houses, the company’s meat product factory, and of sub products from the processing of soya beans for fodder and residual methyl alcohol. Moreover, Marex plans to produce biogas and is developing a project which is to be finalized by the end of 2009.
The Marex group includes the Marex cold meat producer, the Stejar Prodimpex companies (operating in the field of Imperial alcoholic drinks production and distribution and the Marex rubbing alcohol), Vegetal Trading (specializing in fodder production), and Best Construct (construction). The Marex group’s turnover increased by an annual 25 percent in 2007, up to some €50 mln.
