Mazda sales in Romania increase 120% in the first ten months of 2007
Mazda’s target for this year stands around 1,000 units, 166 percent more than in the previous year. This year’s best sold car was Mazda 6, with 242 units, followed by Mazda 3, with 215 units.

The sales increased due to releasing the new models Mazda 2 and CX-7 on the Romanian market. Mazda 6 will be available in showrooms countrywide starting December. Romania will be one of the first European countries to sell the car, due to many requests, the representatives said. The Japanese carmaker could sell up to 1,600 units on the Romanian market next year, 60 percent more than this year’s target, Mazda Romania manager, Cristian Florin Rigu said. The cars will be sold by dealers in a 16-showroom network to be ready by the spring of 2008, he added. They also intend to open four more showrooms investing some 500,000 euros per sales unit.

Mazda is one third owned by Ford Motor Co. The company produces some three quarters of the Japanese cars. In 2006, Mazda made 966,500 cars in Japan and 344,000 outside the country. The global sales rose at 1.23 million units.
