“From some RON 306 million [€93 mln] in 2007, we got to RON 400 mln last year, and for this year we continue to target a double-digit growth rate,” McDonald’s Romania’s Communication Manager, Cristian Savu, told Business Standard.
According to Savu, the company’s net profit amounted to RON 29 mln (some €7.5 mln) in 2008, similar to the level registered in 2007.
“We have to see the evolution of the economic environment in the near future. Obviously we will have to remain flexible, through an optimal price policy and creating promotions, to soften the effects of the crisis,” added Savu.
The company official added that a further four restaurants, now in construction, which will provide 700 new jobs, will be finalized in this year’s first half. “The best investment in time of crisis is personnel, which is why we will not reduce the number of employees, but will continue to increase it,” Savu concluded.
