MOL Invest, majority shareholder of the Mecanica Fina measuring equipment producer, will invest €20 million to build two malls in Bucharest. Mecanica Fina’s production unit will be moved to an unspecified location, according to a declaration for Business Standard by the company’s single Administrator, Sergio Mollo.
“The first project will involve the redesigning of the company’s headquarters on Popa Lazar Street for a furniture distribution mall, to be finalized next year. The second commercial center, specializing in interior decoration, will be built in 2009, in the restructured industrial space of Mecanica Fina.
Mollo indicated that the first mall will cover 24,000 square meters, and 4 floors. The design, to be finalized in one month, involves the demolition of 12 small buildings, where a 200-space parking lot is planned.
Other production units that have been purchased for similar real estate projects are Semanatoarea (River Invest), UMEB and Laromet (both projects of the Africa Israel group), bread factories Paine Titan (Hercesa) and Dambovita (Central Park – Niro Grup), and Frigocom (Gran Via).
