In 2007, the company also posted a 67 percent increase in business, while the private clinics and hospitals market rose some 28-30 percent. “This was due to the opening of the Life Memorial hospital, of the maternal-fetal medical center, and a wider range of services provided by Hyperclinica MedLife and test laboratories,” according to the company's General Manager, Ciprian Ciobanu.

MedLife invested some €6 mln last year in three clinics in the cities of Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest, all to be operational in the first half of the year, while a further three units are to be built and equipped in 2009. Life Memorial, the largest private 100-bed hospital in Romania, was also inaugurated in 2007.

MedLife’s main clients are corporations that pay health subscriptions for their employees. The number of subscriptions doubled last year, to 130,000.

The private health care service market is expected to reach some €300-400 mln this year. MedLife’s main competitors are Unirea Medical Center (CMU), Medicover, Medsana and Sanador.
