The company plans to open a further eight stores in 2009, for a total 48 in the network.
Speaking of the current economic situation, company representatives say they expect an impact on all segments, including retail. “We are tied not only to client behavior, but also to other industries, such as real estate, construction, and transportation. Clients will be increasingly reluctant and less confident, fearing financial instability and a partial loss of revenues,” Mega Image officials said.
The retailer posted more than €100 million in turnover in 2007, some 26 percent higher year-on-year, and €0.54 mln in earnings.
The company’s main competitors locally are supermarket chains Billa, Profi, Spar, Angst, G’market, Primavara, and Ethos.
