Mihai Struteanu was appointed Head of UPC’s Business Division, taking the place of Dinu Malacopol, who became Deputy General Manager of Digital Cable Systems (DCS) in November. Struteanu has 16 years of experience in sales, working for several multinational companies such as Pepsi, Renault, and Vodafone, in management positions on different market segments. Before joining the UPC team, Struteanu was Associate Director Business Sales of Vodafone Romania.
This year, UPC lost its leading position on the cable TV market to the RCS&RDS operator.
“One of the reasons for which I chose DCS is that the company is registering an upward trend on all three segments: residential triple play, direct-to-home (DTH), and business-to-business (B2B). These segments are complementary, and DCS is operating on a growing market,” said Malacopol. He will replace Gheorghe Pristavu as DCS’s General Manager as of 1 February 2009, initiating a process to make the company more efficient.
DCS, taken over by AIG Capital Partners in May for €32 million, ended the year 2007 with some €20 mln in revenues from services, and is estimating a 15 percent rise for 2008.
