“In 2007, there were months when demand far exceeded our bottling capacity,” the company’s Marketing Manager, Adrian Barbat, told Business Standard. Another growth engine for the company’s business is climate change. “In recent years, this has brought torrid summers and higher consumption of liquids,” said Barbat.
The company has also diversified its distribution channels, entering supermarkets and hypermarkets, and increased its product portfolio, by adding non-carbonated mineral water.
As of this year, company representatives estimate sales will exceed 120 million liters of bottled mineral water. Mineral Quantum invested €3.5 million in its plant that can fill 8,000 bottles an hour. In the second half of 2008, the company will launch a new investment program, worth €6.5 mln, aimed to further increase production and provide more storage space by 2010.
Romanians drink an average annual 46-50 liters of mineral water, or 25 percent of the average consumption in Western Europe.
