Minimum tax to become lump-sum tax as of 2010

The Prime Minister specified that the introduction of this measure has been beneficial, and that budget revenue has exceeded expectations. However, businesspeople believe that the minimum tax has been the major obstacle for the survival of companies in this year of crisis, with some two thirds convinced that this should be eliminated. Prime Minister Boc also indicated in a radio interview that this measure has also led to the decline in the number of phantom companies. The Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Companies, Constantin Nita, said yesterday that while the minimum tax has led to high budget revenues, it has also led to the disappearance of thousands of companies, meaning job loss, and a drop in social security contributions.
