Oriflame Romania is one of the top five cosmetics companies in Romania.
Tatoiu told Business Standard that she bought Oriflame Cosmetics shares “first, because this is the company I work for, and second, because I value companies whose founders are still part of the management.” She added that her strategy to invest in shares is related to the company founders’ involvement in the business. “They know their business best. If Oriflame founders were to quit, I would sell my shares,” Tatoiu said.
Shares
She got her first Oriflame shares as part of her salary package, upon becoming Manager of Oriflame Romania in 1997. Tatoiu would not mention the value of the first share package. However, she did say at the end of every year, she had an option to buy company shares and used this option each year.
Tatoiu added that if she was to sell her stock package, she would invest on the New York Stock Exchange in Martha Stewart Omnimedia shares, the company founded by lifestyle guru Martha Stewart.
Tatoiu is worth some €7.5 million. “I have €4 million in bank accounts in Romania, my house is worth €2 million, and then I have the Stockholm [Stock Exchange] shares,” she said. Sweden-based Oriflame Cosmetics was created in 1967 by Jonas af Jochnick and his brother, Robert. Jonas af Jochnick is also main shareholder of medical services company Medicover and founder of the Oresa Ventures investment fund, with operations on the Romanian market.
Oriflame entered Romania in 1997. It posted net sales worth €28.6 million in 2006, a 16 percent year-on-year
