Moody’s estimates that a continuing drop of the dollar could lead to lower rating for Romania

The continuing depreciation of the US dollar will lead to lower competitiveness in Eastern European states, such as Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and could determine a drop in rating, according to an announcement on Tuesday by financial evaluation agency Moody’s.

Moody’s analysts believe that the depreciation of the dollar could negatively affect credit ratings of foreign governments.

Such a depreciation of the US currency could also lead to a drop in many countries in the value of US dollar debts, something that would have a positive effect on sovereign bond issuers.
