Premium car sales are concentrated in Bucharest, from 30 percent in the case of the Audi brand, to 75 percent for Jaguar and Lexus. Regarding the BMW and Mercedes Benz brands volume, about 60 percent of the cars purchased in the first two months of the year were acquired in Bucharest.
Besides Bucharest, premium car sales are concentrated in about 10 other counties, according to data provided by the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).
“The most logical explanation for this phenomenon is that dealer networks are not distributed uniformly throughout the country. On the other hand, while there are rich people in other counties also, most are surely concentrated in Bucharest,” said APIA’s President, Ernest Popovici.
The highest demand for premium cars was registered in the Timis, Brasov, Constanta, and Bacau counties.
