The euro was quoted at RON 3.4745 at the closing of Monday’s foreign currency exchange session, after which the leu appreciated to RON 3.4795/€1, recovered sudden ground within one hour, by 10:00 a.m., to RON 3.4468/€1. The leu subsequently depreciated slightly to RON 3.4668/€1, returned to RON 3.4550/€1, with the European currency quoted at RON 3.4715-3.4790 by 1:30 p.m.
“The liquidity on the market is now down, before the holidays, with volumes very low, and very few players. They moved the rate by about RON 0.03, speculating the leu at a certain moment, but I think the rate will exceed RON 3.47/1€ by the closing of the exchange rate session,” according to a statement for NewsIn by a bank dealer.
