New ANOFM head: the unemployed can go work abroad

Bian said that European employers can use the Romanian workforce based on bilateral agreements for free labor movement or through the EURES online recruiting network in countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France or Cyprus. However, many Romanians working in EU countries are now considering returning home, due to the global financial crisis, which has led to significant layoffs. The number of Romanian unemployed in Spain is presently rising.
 
“I am not saying that I recommend that the unemployed go abroad, but this is a possible option,” he added.
 
However, the ANOFM Bilateral Agreements Department Manager, Camelia Mihalcea, said that only 1,000 jobs of the total 3,500 jobs available in the Spanish agriculture sector are occupied. Furthermore, only 32 jobs were available for Romanians in the EURES network.
