These figures place Romania 11th in EU, according to European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In the EU and the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) countries - Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein - a total 10,41 million card were registered during January-August, some 3.9 percent lower year-on-year.
In august, Romania registered a 0.9 percent decline in new car registration, to 30,523 units, from 33,533 cars year-on-year.
Europe's largest auto market is Germany, with more than two million new cars registered, 1.7 percent higher year-on-year, followed by Italy, with 1,74 million units, 12 percent lower year-on-year, and Britain, with 1.52 million cars, 3.8 prcnet lower year-on-year.
During January-August, the best seller brand was Volkswagen, with more than one million units, followed by Ford and Opel/Vauxhall.
