As many as 82,258 new vehicles were sold in the first quarter of 2008, against 70,192 units in the same period in 2007.
Romania's carmaker Dacia, owned by France’s Renault, was the best selling brand in the first three months of the year, with 21,475 units, up 0.79 percent against the same period last year. It was followed by Skoda, with 6,147 units sold, Volkswagen (5,792 units), Ford (5,634 units) and Renault (5,611 units).
Dacia had the biggest market share in the first quarter of 2008 (26.1 percent); it was followed by Skoda (7.5 percent) and Volkswagen (7 percent).
As many as 366,819 new vehicles were sold on the Romanian market in 2007.
