New high-speed railway corridor to link Bucharest and Budapest, add up to international rail system

The new rail will be an extension of the high-speed axis Paris-Strasbourg-Stuttgart-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest, according to a joint declaration of the Romanian Transportation and Hungarian Economy and Transportation ministries, following a common Cabinet meeting.

The two ministries also decided to develop together the infrastructure of secondary roads which cross the Romanian-Hungarian border and the highways and public roads network opened for international traffic.

Romanian Transportation Minister Ludovic Orban presented a note regarding the collaboration with Hungary to increase rail and road traffic for commodities and passengers, increase the quality of services, reduce maintenance costs. These actions are meant to ease traffic for European citizens.
