Nexans Romania estimates a 10-15% increase for 2007

Nexans, the world’s largest cable producer, estimates for 2007 a 10-15 percent increase in net sales, from the €30 million registered on the Romanian market in 2006.

Nexans Romania, present on the Romanian market since 2001, plans to increase its current production capacities up to 50 percent by 2009. The company already owns four factories in Arad County, two in Chisineu Cris, and a further two in Pincota and Sintana.

“The total value of Nexans’ investments in Romania exceeds €13 million,” Silviu Ardeleanu, Nexans Development Manager for the Balkans told Business Standard. 

The French Nexans Group, created from Alcatel’s Cables and Components activity, is world leader in the cable industry. The Group provides systems and technologies in several fields, including energy, telecommunications, LAN systems, construction, ship-building, railway engines, aerospace, petrochemicals, and several medical branches. Nexans cables are used by transportation companies, such as BMW, Chrysler, Dacia Logan, and the Siemens Desiro railway engines (Blue Arrow).
Nexans’ clients in Romania include Orange, Raiffeisen Bank, Europa House, Carrefour, Petrom, Plazza Mall, Alpha Bank and Kaufland. 

“Of all the countries in the Balkans, Romania has registered the highest level of sales, with one third of all structured cabling sales,”Ardeleanu said. He added that this is mainly due to Romania’s extraordinary strategic potential, which has attracted significant foreign investments in the past few years, and to the level of its political stability, higher than Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, and even Bulgaria.

Nexans has 21,000 employees worldwide and 120 factories in 30 countries, but operates in more than 65 countries. Last year’s Nexans sales amounted to €7.5 billion.
