“At least €300 million are required to build a company to transport the terrestrial digital television signal. I think only one or two such companies at most will be needed for the feasibility of the system,” said Nistoran.
According to Sorin Oancea, General Manager and shareholder of the Antena 3 TV station, part of the Intact trust, there are also less expensive solutions. “Investments made by the Intact trust in the past five years considered the passage to the technology needed for terrestrial digital broadcasting,” Oancea added.
Next year, the first licenses will be granted for terrestrial digital television, in a system which allows broadcasting ten channels on a single frequency at High Definition standards.
