No cheap electricity on the energy exchange this week

The only energy producers selling electricity packages for next year are Turceni and Rovinar energy complexes, but at high prices.

The cheapest energy producers, Nuclearelectrica and Hidroelectrica, said they are holding off for an appropriate time to sell energy. The General Manager of Hidroelectrica, Traian Oprea, said he cannot make offers for 2009 yet, since he does not know the quantity Hidroelectrica will have to sell on the consumer market. Nuclearelectrica General Manager, Teodor Chirica, said the company will sell electricity.

Energy Holding, the local market energy trader leader, plans to acquire some 1 Terra Watt hour (TWh) and is willing to pay approximately €51 million. Aluminum producer Alro Slatina, largest energy consumer in Romania, at 4 TWh a year, plans to buy 973.044 Mega Watts hour (MWh).
