Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has a production unit in the central Cluj County. Its manager, John Guerry, told Basescu that the factory has no problems.
He denied rumors saying that Nokia asked for help from the state to cope with the crisis. "We did not demand state assistance and we are not planning to," he said.
"I am pleased with what I have learned. Nokia will keep growing next year. The undetermined period jobs are secure and one essential thing must be done: a sound partnership between the trade union and the management, to make sure this difficult period is not impacting on jobs," Basescu said following a meeting with Nokia Romania management.
Last week, the president visited car manufacturers, steel and chemical plants and two naval yards to discuss the impact of the financial crisis on major local producers. (NewsIn)
