Nuclearelectrica expects a 20% annual rise in profit in 2009

The company is not expecting a major impact of the financial crisis, “at least not in 2009”, considering energy production and current prices. However, the main risk is the possibility of delayed invoice payments by clients, a situation similar to that in 1998-2003, when Nuclearelectrica was forced to turn to the state for loan guarantees. A drop in energy consumption and the depreciation of the leu could also affect profit.

Nuclearelectrica estimates RON 1.3 billion (€360 million) in turnover in 2009, up five percent year-on-year, basing its calculations on scheduled electricity production and energy transactions.
