Services improved at the seaside in the past years, after hotel operators realized that tourists can choose other destinations, said Silaghi.

The minister said Romania's seaside resorts have 60-70 kilometers of beach, while Bulgaria has about 450 kilometers, so it is difficult to compare the two locations. He added there are different services, too.

About 18,000-20,000 people went to Bulgaria from Easter until present and some 16,000 tourists chose Romania's seaside resorts, according to local authority of Constanta County, Danut Culetu.

Mayor of Mangalia resort, Zamfir Iorgus, said the plan is to build bicycle runway and a light rail from Mangalia to the Balcic resort in Bulgaria, in a bid to link the two seacoasts.
