€20 per night or €59 for three nights, at a two or three-star hotel, transport not included – this was the least expensive offer for Greece. The least expensive holiday in Romania is offered by the Bazna boarding house, near Medias (near the central Romanian city of Sibiu): €32 per night or €96 for a three-day Christmas holiday. As in previous years, Greece and Bulgaria continue to be the favourite foreign destinations, even in the cold season.
“Travel packages promoted for local destinations in the winter holiday season will suffer price cuts of at least 20 percent, because otherwise hotels will remain empty. Like the seaside, in this summer of crisis, it is now time for the mountain regions to pass the price test. In my opinion, if last year the Romanian tourist allocated an average €400-450 for a winter holiday, this year the average will not exceed €300, because of the financial crisis we are all in,” the President of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT), Corina Martin, told Business Standard.
