OMD Romania targets business of €17 mln for 2007

Last year, the agency’s revenue amounted to €11.73 mln, with net profits of €137,591, according to data published by the Ministry for Economy and Finance. As such, the agency could close the year with €17 mln worth of business.

The growth ratio expected by company representatives exceeds the forecast media market increase of 36 percent. Larger client budgets and the emergence of new communication media were the main contributors to market growth.

OMD had a three percent market share on a market valuated last year at €350-360 mln, and ranked tenth among domestic media agencies. Internationally, the French Research Company Evaluating the Media Agency Industry (RECMA) named OMD market leader, based on receipts. OMD Group had a global 7.2 percent market share, with total receipts of $26 billion (some €20 bln). OMD Romania is part of the OMD Worldwide Group, a member of the Omnicom communication group.

The agency was established in November 2004, with shareholders international networks TBWA and DDB, each with 50 percent participation.

The structure that formed OMD Romania three years ago, with Ruxandra Stefan as General Manager, was operating in 2000 under the name of Mediaplan, as a media agency affiliated with Omnicom.

At the beginning of 2006, the agency affiliated with another Omnicom business in Romania, the Media Direction agency, a member of the BBDO group.

The two companies created a partnership to offer more complex media acquisitions and increase Omnicom earnings in Romania. In this context, OMD’s turnover for 2006 increased by 20 percent year-on-year.
