Omniasig posted profit worth RON 2.93 mln (€794,000). Casco car insurance (full insurance for all types of accidents or theft) increased 146 percent, with gross subscribed premiums volume worth RON 152.3 mln (€41.59 mln). Mandatory RCA car insurance policies rose 14 percent, to RON 141.21 mln (€28.46 mln).
The company is the second-largest player on the Romanian insurance market, and has been part of the Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) since 2005. The Austrian company also controls Romanian insurance companies Omniasig Life, Omniasig Pensii, Unita, Agras and Asirom. VIG took over BCR Asigurari and BCR Asigurari de Viata from Austrian Erste group in April 2008.
