During a round table organized by PricewaterhouseCoopers consulting company and David&Baias law firm, Chitoiu said that, as a result of an easier tax collection process and the implementation of new technologies, the ratio of persons paying their taxes on time rose to 90 percent.
This has led to significantly lower costs for forced tax collection, according to Chitoiu. To further reduce these costs, ANAF also set up an online tax collection system. However, although the system has been operational for one and a half years, only 2 percent of Romanians pay their taxes online.
Representatives of ANAF and the business community attended the round table. Talks were led by specialists in legislation and fiscal issues.
