According to this same data, 174,480 imported and nationally produced cars were delivered throughout the country in H1, 1.8 percent down from the same period in 2007.
“There are significant reasons for developing the automobile market outside of Bucharest in the coming years. Sales are sure to rise throughout the country, because Bucharest is already very congested, and this will lead to a sort of limiting of demand,” said APIA President Ernest Popovici for Business Standard.
Main players on the automotive market believe that the sale of new cars will reach a high similar to that in 2007, of some 370,000 units, due to the international economic crisis, a rise in fuel prices, and a drop in the pollution tax, which could stimulate demand for second-hand cars.
