Only four companies in the green at the beginning of the year

Most affected were the shares of financial investment companies (SIF), which lost 14.2 percent this year for BET-FI.

The chemical fertilizer producer, Amonil Slobozia, and Carbochim Cluj Napoca were the least affected among companies powerfully influenced by the drops, as they registered growth of 1.41 and 1.92 percent, respectively. Grupul Industrial Electrocontact, controlled by Gabriel Chiriac, advanced 0.99 percent.

The real estate Impact Developer&Contractor had the top losses compared to the end of last year, of 23.6 percent. The value of the share package controlled by Dan Ioan Popp, the company’s majority shareholder, dropped in eight sessions by €17.83 million, to €57.73 mln.

“The economy is subject to a very difficult period. The stock exchange started out the year with significant drops, and this situation will persist. I do not expect to see a change in this trend before July; perhaps only momentary redresses. I also think that financial results are unlikely to change things significantly,” said Octavian Molnar, Deputy General Manager of the IFB Finwest brokerage company.

In the first trading session this week, the BET-FI dropped by 3.8 percent, the BET-C composite index 2.59 percent, while the BET index of the ten most important companies listed depreciated by 2.72 percent.
