Oprea, RCS&RDS: We can afford to expand our mobile phone network to Hungary

Oprea added that RCS&RDS has the necessary resources to finance the company’s plans for 2008 and 2009, including investments the company must make if it wins the Hungarian license.

“We are talking about two licenses: one for 900 MHz and/or 3G and the other for 450 MHz. We will probably bid for both, and the process will last approximately ten days,” said Oprea.

RCS&RDS took out a syndicated loan worth $500 million (€396.5 mln) at the end of 2007 to develop its 3G mobile phone network in Romania.

The operator will not modify its business plan in Romania or the region. “It is obviously not easy considering current conditions, especially in terms of the exchange rate,” said the company’s General Manager.
