The top two mobile phone operators in terms of number of users developed a new battlefield in the past few months, switching from classic retail to online stores, in an attempt to attract clients through promotions, personalized packages, exclusive online offers, and aggressive marketing campaigns.

“The average amount spent by a user of the Orange online store is some €45, with this average amount spent exclusively on products acquired online: phones, laptops, data cards, or accessories. In terms of services, these are charged on the invoice issued the month after the actual purchase,” the Online Division Manager of Orange Romania, Andreea Belenes, told Business Standard.

At Vodafone, the average value of the product or service sold online is RON 300-400 (€70.4-93.9), but the payment method includes redeeming loyalty points accumulated by clients, which means that the operator does not always receive cash equivalent to the full value of the goods sold, according to estimates by Stephanie Jackson, Online Service and Internet Manager of Vodafone Romania.
