Orange: business triples over Christmas

As such, the increase in voice traffic over the Orange network exceeded 50 percent compared to the same period in 2006. Vodafone had some 18 percent more traffic this Christmas compared to the holiday in 2006. Orange reported a 12 percent rise in SMSs, while Vodafone reported 9.9 percent.

New Year 2008 brought an increase of 40 percent for Orange network voice traffic, compared to 8.5 percent for Vodafone in the same period in 2007. Orange is also first in terms of SMSs, with a 37 percent rise at the New Year, compared to Vodafone’s 5 percent.

Only Vodafone has announced figures relating to video-3G telephony calls compared to the previous period last year: up 45.69 percent at Christmas, and 34 percent at the New Year.

Cosmote will announce its network traffic today, while Zapp was not available for comment by the close of this edition.
