Orange Romania targets income worth €1.3 bln

Moat added that Orange investments in Romania will amount to €1.6 bln at the end of 2008. For 2007, income from services was estimated at €1.2 bln, with the figure to be confirmed in three weeks, when the company will publish its financial results for last year.

Most of Orange’s revenue comes from voice services, but the operator estimates that data services will enjoy a higher ratio in terms of income in the following period. “This year, we are focusing on expanding our products and services portfolio, especially on the data services segment and integrated offers for both companies and individuals,” said Moat.

Orange’s main competitor, Vodafone Romania, posted €570 mln in income from services in the first half of fiscal year 2007-2008 (April to September, 2007). The third-largest operator on the local market, Cosmote Romania, posted €168.8 mln in income from services for the first nine months of 2007.
