“We ended last year with 71 stores. It is difficult to say what our strategy will be, but I think we will have at least 90 Orange Shop units by the end of the year, maybe even 100,” Orange Romania CEO, Richard Moat, told Business Standard.
He added that the operator is interested in long-term partnerships. “We have a network of some 1,000 stores selling Orange products, both owned by our partners and our own, and I think that at the operator level we have the widest distribution network in Romania.”
Early last March, the company announced it reached 10 million clients, of which some 5 million were secured in the past three years. By the end of last year, Orange posted €1.23 billion worth of business, 24 percent higher year-on-year.
On the GSM retail segment, major networks are Germanos Romania, Avenir Telecom, Fonomat and EuroGSM, with the latter two Orange partners. On the mobile services market, Orange’s main competitors are Vodafone Romania, Cosmote Romania and Zapp.
