Outplacing a top manager is as expensive as recruiting one

The period of time until employees find jobs varies depending on the economic context. At present, in Western Europe, employees have to wait at least nine months before finding a job. “In Romania, employees affected by the large restructuring programs find a new job in about six months,” said Viorel Ghete, Managing Partner of BPI Romania.

An outplacement process starts with the professional background of employees. “Few candidates choose to invest part of their salary in obtaining a certificate required in a certain line of business,” Ghete added. If employees leave their current workplace through collective layoff rather than voluntary resignation, they are entitled to free courses from local authorities, and some employers decide to offer free training within the company.
