“The moment when notebooks will make up the majority on the market is near. On certain distribution channels, such as traditional dealers and online orders, the ratio of notebooks is already higher than desktops,” says Diana Preda, Research Analyst for IDC Romania.
Main factors that sustain this growth are a high demand for notebooks, investments in government projects, and the expansion of retail chains.
HP was the best sold laptop brand in Q1 2008, with 11.5 percent of the market share, followed by Fujitsu Siemens, at 9.9 percent, and Acer, with 9.8 percent. Computers with Intel processors make up 70.9 percent of market share, while those with AMD processors claim the remaining 29.1 percent.
