“We will focus on three and four star hotels, and are initially targeting very large cities, then moving on to large and medium-sized cities. I hope that we will be able to package the product by summer, to make this franchisable, and to offer a franchise to several developers,” said Negoita for standard.ro. He added that the company also plans to build a resort at the seaside, but did not offer details of this project, apart from mentioning that he hopes the project this will allow for an extended season, from 1 May to 30 September due to its facilities.
Negoita controls Pro Confort with his brother, Robert Negoita, and their activities include hotels, real estate and mass-media. As of 2005, they have invested some €60 million in the four-star Rin Grand hotel, the largest hotel in Romania, with 1,500 rooms, and valuated by company representatives at €100 mln. Turnover in 2008 amounted to €15 million, and they are expecting this to increase to €18 mln this year
Rin Grand representatives indicated that they do not plan to drop prices or lay off staff. The unit’s average daily occupancy rate in 2008 was 380-400, as this operated at full capacity only at the end of the year.
Other four-star hotels nationwide are Golden Tulip, Ramada and Best Western.
