Japanese Panasonic sales in Romania are estimated at €70 million for the current financial year, according to company representatives, some 16 percent higher year-on-year.
“Panasonic’s turnover in the 2007-2008 financial year, which ended on 31 March, increased from €46 mln to €60 mln. The largest ratio, of over 60 percent of turnover, was generated by plasma and LCD TVs. The profit margin was 1 percent of turnover, a level we plan to maintain this year,” said Catalin Savulescu, General Manager of Panasonic Romania.
He added that the company is market leader on the plasma TV segment and ranks fifth on the LCD TV segment.
Panasonic Romania is estimating it will sell at least 60,000 photo cameras in the 2008-2009 financial year, 50 percent more year-on-year.
The company’s main distribution partners are Altex, Domo and Flanco. Panasonic also signed a contract with Scop Computers at the end of 2007. Its main competitors are Samsung, LG Electronics and Sony.
