Panasonic Romania sales increased by 48 percent

In terms of units, digital photo camera sales advanced 280 percent. The company estimates to sell at least 60,000 photo cameras in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.

Panasonic estimates turnover worth €70 million for the current financial year, scheduled to end on 31 March 2009. Catalin Savulescu, General Manager of Panasonic , indicated that the company is market leader on the plasma TV segment, and ranks fifth for LCG TVs. Panasonic had a 41 percent market share for plasma TVs in the first quarter of 2008, and plans to maintain its leader position with a market share of over 50 percent.

The company’s main competitor on the plasma and LCD TV market is LG Romania, which claimed a 39 percent market share in Q1 2008. “We are targeting the top spot for this market this year because the difference between us and our main competitor is very small, approximately 1 percent,” said Han Khyu, President of LG Electronics Romania. LCD TV sales soared by 350 percent in Q1 compared to the same period in 2007.
