Turnover could exceed €50.4 million, compared to last year’s net sales of over €45 mln. Sales in 2008 could exceed €56.4 mln. “We are expecting a 12 percent increase this year compared to 2007. We could revise the percentage upwards, as was the case also in 2007,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Bogdan Gheorghiu, Marketing Manager for Panasonic Romania.
The upward revision on turnover was made after a rise last year in sales of plasma TVs and digital cameras. Viera was Panasonic’s best seller on the plasma TV segment, while Lumix took the cake for best selling product on the digital camera segment.
According to electronic company representatives, TV and photo video camera segments will enjoy the highest growth this year. The TV market will double year-on-year, up to 400,000 units, while digital photo camera producers are expecting a rise of some 30 percent, to over 325,000 units.
Panasonic has important distribution contracts with local distributors Altex, Domo and Flanco. At the end of 2007, it also signed a distribution contract with Scop Computers. Its main competitors are Samsung, LG Electronics and Sony.
