The most significant growth, of 92 percent, was on the notebook sales segment, while the desktops sold rose by a mere 17.5 percent. x86 server sales rose 21.3 percent year-on-year.
Last year’s Q3 sales were 20 percent lower year-on-year. According to IDC, a significant amount of PCs were sold in the third quarter of 2005, due to a government project, which boosted the market. After a drop in 2006, PC sales revived this year, with a 30 percent rise in sale of units in Q2 2007, while the increase was as much as 58 percent in terms of value. The second quarter also saw a staggering 120 percent rise in the number of laptops sold.
The local PC market amounted to $492 mln (€331.2 mln) in the first nine months of 2007, with 570,000 sold units. According to IDC estimates, some 800,000 PCs will be sold by the end of the year.
