Petrom expects a 60% rise in business in 2009 on an LPG market down 15%

The company became local LPG market leader after taking over Shell Gas Romania in the summer of 2007, when the Dutch Shell group quit the local market.

Petrom LPG is estimating this business growth rate in spite of a difficult economic context, marked by the crisis and the significant drop in the price of oil. The company’s net sales amounted to RON 346 mln (€93.95 mln) in 2008, while its net profit reached RON 25 mln (€6.78 mln). Integrating the Shell business boosted Petrom’s LPG sales by 30 percent last year.

The President of the Romanian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (ARGPL), Florin Preda, told Business Standard that the LPG market fell 15-20 percent since the beginning of this year.
