The state producer overbid European giants, such as Italy’s Enel, the Czech Republic’s CEZ, and Germany’s E.ON, losing to the Romanian producer in the auction organized by Petrom. “Craiova will deliver some 1.85 TWh to Petrom, 1.15 TWh for the exploration and production division, as of 1 April, and some 0.7 TWh for Doljchim and Arpechim, as of 1 July,” according to a statement for Business Standard by sources close to the negotiations.
The General Manager of CE Craiova, Ion Dinculescu confirmed that the company had won bids in two auctions to supply energy to Petrom. The Petrobrazi Refinery has its own capacity to generate 50 MW of electricity. “Yes, it is true that we won the contract with Petrom. However, we cannot divulge the value of the contract as this is confidential,” added Dinculescu.
