“I estimate a 30 percent drop in the roofing market this year, a trend which became visible as of the first quarter this year. This estimate includes the metal roof tile segment, on which we are operating,” Andrei Sulyok, General Manager of Lindab Romania, told Business Standard.
Marius Damaschin, Sales Manager of Tondach, a major player on the ceramic roof tile segment, said that the market will drop by some 20-25 percent in 2009. The company official said that the decline is due to the blockage on the real estate market, and restricted access to loans of end clients.
Numerous small companies operate in the field of production and sale of metal roof tiles, mainly because of relatively low investments in production equipment and the simple technological process.
According to estimates by Neomar Consulting, competition will tighten in 2009, especially due to the global economic crisis and a lower number of construction projects compared to previous years.
