Boca says Polirom has a market share of over 10 percent. Its net promotion budget will reach some €200,000 in 2008, 20 percent higher year-on-year. Polirom plans to increase its published titles to almost 650.
According to Oana Boca, there were times when journalists were not allowed to write about a book published by Polirom, because the publisher had not signed an advertising contract with the newspaper. Polirom uses mainly its website to promote books, and Boca added that the website is the most complex and visited publisher site in Romania.
Best-sold book collections are Collegium, Biblioteca Polirom, and Ego.Proza. The Polirom group includes the Polirom publishing house (over 40 editorial areas) and Cartea Romaneasca (the oldest publishing brand in Romania).
RAO, Corint, Humanitas and Paralela 45 are among Polirom’s top competitors.
