“We are considering expanding processing outside Moldavia, including in Bucharest. We will see. Everything related to the food industry is interesting,” Porumboiu told Business Standard.
 
He confirmed information on the market that he is interesting in acquiring a Bucharest-based food producer, owner of a renowned brand, but declined to provide the name.
 
Racova Com Agro Pan Vaslui includes 11 companies with operations in the food industry, agriculture, trade, tourism and services. The holding has some 7,000 employees, according to Porumboiu. He said no layoffs are being considered at present.
 
Porumboiu is one of the top five farmers in Romania, with 50,000 hectares of agricultural land. Other major companies in the field are TCE 3 Brazi, Agro Chirnogi, Comcereal Dolj and InterAgro.
