“We have two factories causing major concern, which have been [financially] supported by the group for a while now. In 2007, the two units posted total losses in excess of €2 million,” Sucu said. He added the group has revival plans, but, if these fail, a decision to close the two units could be made. “The product is all right, but more expensive than the market can handle. A decision will be made this year,” he said.
Mobexpert is local furniture market leader, with €168 million worth of business in 2007, 12 percent higher year-on-year. The local furniture market is estimated at €1.1 billion, with Mobexpert, IKEA, Elvila, Italsofa and Alprom as main players.
It has eight furniture factories, 10 retail companies, six import companies and three service companies, with a total 3,500 employees.
