However, the slight increase in business expressed in lei is canceled by the unfavorable evolution of the leu-euro exchange rate, hence net sales will drop some 10 percent expressed in euro.
The Post Office budgeted a profit below €1 mln for this year. Its gross earnings were almost seven times lower in 2008.
Due to the crisis, the main player on the postal service market is applying a restructuring program which implies, on the one hand, renegotiating some contracts and on the other hand, restructuring some divisions and transferring certain clients on less expansive service segments.
“We are considering the possibility of reducing the value of some contracts, through which various services were acquired, by renegotiating these in terms of both prices and the rights and obligations of parties,” Vatafu added.
