Praktiker’s net earnings amounted to €32.7 million, while Bricostore posted €20 mln in net income.
According to these financial results, Praktiker’s profit margin was 3.7 percent, some three times lower compared to Bricostores’s - 10 percent.
At the end of 2007, Praktiker had 20 stores and 2,071 employees, following significant investments in expansion that lowered the net income. The company opened four new stores last year and increased the selling area of a further three stores.
Bricostore opened one new store, totaling eight units and 1,141 employees by the end of last year. Both retailers plan further expansion this year.
