The best selling mobile terminal on the Romanian market costs €60 (Nokia 1112), while the most expensive is some €1,000. Domestic consumers with average and high incomes go toward the premium segment, where a phone sells for approximately €400.
Nokia, closely followed by other players - Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola and LG, is the market leader in Romania too. Nokia 1112 holds supremacy in the Romanian consumers’ preferences, with some 300,000 units sold annually.
“Some 60-70 percent of the phones sold by eMAG.ro have prices up to €150,” said Theodor Weber, Product Manager at eMAG.ro, leader on the e-commerce market, confirming that Romanians are oriented towards low-cost cell phones.
Hi-Tech. Some 40 percent of the urban mobile phone users have phones with built-in camera, say representatives of GSM retailer Germanos. Since the beginning of 2007, there is a trend towards multimedia phones.
